Welcome to The Attic
The Website Design Co. UK's Portfolio
These are some of the sites we've built. For the moment, most of these are our own sites.
Please feel free to visit any sites you find interesting.
Some of the sites we have designed
This is just a representative sample of sites. (We can also customise "off-the-shelf" systems such as Simple Machines forum sites). Click the image to see a bigger screen-shot, and click the site name to go to the actual site.
Win Roulette Easily
A simple "one-page" sales site. (We call them one page sites, but of course there are pages for delivery and so on with all sites of this kind.)
Gluten Factsheet
Designed for the collection of email addresses for a weekly factsheet and online delivery of the factsheets, which are also emailed to subscribers through AWeber, the premier autoresponder company. The site includes a quiz which is processed, with results displayed and also emailed to participants, as well as audio on every factsheet.
Which Day?
This is a place to find out more about different celebrations around the world, from Burns Night to the Water-Sprinkling Festival. In addition, there are two calendars (one to see the celebrations for a particular month, and the other which shows the date in different calendars used around the world), a utility to convert dates from one calendar to another, and another utility to count days between dates.
EcoLandscapes, Edinburgh
This is a very simple static site advertising a bricks and mortar business, produced by Frann. It's a fast loading site, designed to provide a presence on the Web for a business conducted offline.
The Health Site - Your Online Health Channel
This is a more complex site, with a content management system handling two distinct types of content: articles and recipes. There is a news feed on the index page. The featured article extract, also on the index page, is selected randomly by the system on the first of the month, or can be selected manually if required. Frann built this from scratch, and went to great lengths building the intuitive content management system for it.
Available Right Now - Selected ebooks for instant download
This is just a very simple content management system, built to sell eBooks to those interested.
Oh my Goth for all things Gothick
Designed specifically for the Goth niche. Frann built in lots of features for the targeted audience, and this site is frequently recommended by visitors.
Four Wheel Freedom
This site has a number of interesting features, including a random quote, a newsfeed, and a series of 5 small pictures at the top, which are randomly chosen from a selection held online.
Third Halo
An Adsense site with embedded videos from YouTube. This site is for sale.
All Weekend Breaks
A short breaks selector, presenting results from a MySQL database built from two XML product feeds.
Some sample designs
These are sample layout designs, to show the sort of things that are possible, and maybe give you some ideas for your own site.
A purple mood
A very basic layout, centered on the screen with wide margins left and right, with left hand navigation.
A purple mood 2
A similar layout to the above, but with curved corners, centered on the screen, with left hand navigation.
A purple mood 3
This variant uses a different font and a background image. Layout is centered on the screen, with left hand navigation.
Autumn dreams
A basic layout with right hand navigation, using images of autumn leaves for the buttons.
Lazy Days
An unusual layout, the headline is on the left, with navigation at the top.
Mobile Home
The page is surrounded by a wide margin on all sides, and navigation is underneath.
Paris Pylon
This design is very much focused on the content, which is illustrated by the images. Navigation is by buttons on the left which change colour when the mouse passes over them. The picture on the right changes state when the mouse passes over it.
Floral Dance
This layout is specifically designed to fit a screen set at 800 pixels in width, which suits the imagined demographic. Navigation is by image buttons on the left hand side, underneath the News area.
