Video Marketing - Lights, Camera, Action

3 Things to Keep in Mind for Your Video

Goals. As is the case with any marketing effort, you need to first assess what your goal is in producing the video. Are you uploading the video to YouTube to share information and drive traffic to your website? Do you want the video to be so riveting that people forward it to everyone they know? Is it for the Home Page of your website to welcome visitors and give them a tour? You may have a different goal for each video, but before you even turn the camera on make sure you know what your goal is so you can work toward accomplishing it.

Measurement. Once you know what your goal is then it's time to figure out how you're going to measure the success or failure of achieving your goal. Measuring this can also vary depending on what your goal is. You may measure how many people watch the video, how many people respond to a special offer after watching the video or how many people forward the video.

Audience. This is not unique to video marketing, but you need to know your audience before recording your video message. Whom are you talking to or trying to reach with your message? What are you trying to say to them or get them to do? Knowing your audience directly affects the tone of the video and the information you share in the video. You have to think, feel and act in a way that connects with your audience in order to make your video successful.

Video marketing can be a very effective marketing tool when approached in a strategic manner. Put some thought into your video marketing campaigns before you hit the record button. Having a video plan in place helps you to draw the road map to your video marketing success.
